Do you think you can recognize a great social media post? How about the bad ones? Do you instinctively know when there is duplicity behind the words even if you can’t put your finger on it?
The truth is we are all able to connect with the energy of words which helps us to recognize good vs bad posts, content or copy.
Bad content = misaligned energy + little or no structured writing
Good content = aligned energy + beautiful, supportive structured writing
Let me break this down into the 2 hidden, elemental segments
ENERGY
Aligned energy is honesty. You are speaking or writing your truth. You feel expanded and open about the words you are writing and/or have written. It feels true and right and real.
Misaligned energy happens when your words don’t feel true even to you. This can happen if you feel like you need to follow copy templates and teachers who offer regimented instruction on a specific writing style.
For instance, charming, self deprecating humor may work for some but if that’s not who you are in the real world, it will show through as “false” in your copy.
You’ll shine when you trust yourself and begin to channel your own unique blend of quiet confidence and gentle support in your writing voice.
STRUCTURE
I can’t emphasize this enough! Structure in writing is a must if you are to be understood and the first rule of writing copy is to be understood. It is THE elemental function of writing copy to support your business is to be understood.
If you are unclear, confusing or vague, you will end up attracting non-dream clients or no clients at all!
And of course this can create a whole lot of disappointment and decreased income which opens the door to a whole set of other problems such as frustration and decreased income.
A little tip on structure: Your copy (ANY copy) needs to answer these 4 questions in this order:
(i) What (what do you want your readers to do)
(ii) Why (why should they listen to you/ why is this important)
(iii) How should they proceed (steps, instructions that they need to perform)
(iv) What next (what do you want them to do next – traditionally known as the Call to Action or CTA)
And that’s it! When you start to master these pieces, you’ll start to connect with your ideal clients and notice a major increase in engagement, loves, likes and sales.
