“Our intention creates our reality” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

 Confession time…

I didn’t have a daily spiritual practice or ritual, for the longest time and anytime someone suggested that I start one, I’d resist…mightily!

(I think that pushback came from having to follow a ton of rules and routines, growing up so when I finally started to make my own choices, the hidden rebel in me stood up and said… no more!)

A part of me also felt like a daily spiritual practice or routine was devoid of creative energy and that’s a huge no-no for me (when I feel like there’s very little or zero creative energy involved, I get bored faster than you can say, Rumpelstiltskin!)

But over the past few years, I’ve found that it’s the “sameness” of a daily ritual or practice that gives it power and there are deep benefits to doing it again and again in pretty much the exact, same way.

For one thing, knowing that you can turn to an unchanging ritual even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty, is incredibly comforting plus repeatedly chanting a Mantra or repeating a symbolic gesture, like a Mudra, reinforces the potency and magic of it.

I’ve basically become a devotee of rituals and practices that work and I could go on and on about the ones I love but today I thought it might be fun to pick one of the very first ones that I ever tried.

It’s something that was inspired by one of my most cherished books of all time, Dr. Wayne Dyer’s The Power of Intention

The truth is your intention is the key to activating creativity and the energy of co-creation and as Dr. Dyer points out, living with intention can (and will) create our lived reality.

The following 3-step method is part of my personal approach to setting a daily intention in order to call in the Pure Energy of Creation.

This isn’t just about identifying your intention for the day — it’s also about making room for creative magic, and miracles to happen so your intention can come to life in delightfully unexpected ways.

These 3 steps work at any time but I find that doing them first thing in the morning or before you go to bed at night (when you set the intention for the next day), are the best times 🙂

Step #1: Become Aware of Your Wish

First ask yourself what you wish for in your heart. Some questions that can help you do this – what do you wish for the most for today? What matters most? What would make you feel the most fulfilled?

Step #2: Get Into Your Heart Space

Close your eyes and take 3 deep, healing breaths. If you want to, you can choose to work with any of the 1 Healing Breath images that feel good to you in the moment .Breath in for the count of 6 and breathe out for a count of 6. Allow a feeling of calm to settle over you.

Step #3: Breathe Life Into Your Intention

Now speak your intention (out loud is best but you can do it in your mind too) while visualizing or imagining your intention surrounded by the beautiful, sparkling pink light of love. This will breathe life into it, from your heart energy.

That’s it!  Super simple, right?

Setting a daily intention aligns your mind with the desires of your heart. It focuses your energy, and allows ingenious ideas and creativity to flow.

This 3-step method is an effective practice that can stand on its own or be part of just about any other daily practice or ritual.

Handy tip: Keep your intention close to your heart by thinking about it during the day. If it helps, write it down and keep it where you can see it.

Today, my intention is to speak, write and act from my heart so I am aligned with the highest purpose of my being.
