I LOVE oxymorons! And a juicy one never fails to make my heart skip a delighted beat (what can I say… I’m a word nerd!).
Some of my favorite oxymorons include “jumbo shrimp,” “seriously funny”, “bittersweet,” “deafening silence” and the always entertaining “humblebrag” 
And today I want to talk about the Spiritual Rebel entrepreneur which also happens to be something of an oxymoron.
I know that at first glance, “Spiritual Rebel” might feel like a contradiction, and maybe even an impossibility — it’s an oxymoron that can never be.
Especially if we’re going with a “by the dictionary” definition where being spiritual is defined as “relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.”
A spiritual person is expected to not want anything and to be pretty much egoless, and unconditionally, compassionate, and generous.
And then there’s “rebel” which, among other definitions, is “someone who resists authority, control or convention” or someone who “exhibits great independence in thought and action.”
Based on these ideals “spiritual” and “rebel” don’t seem to go together at all…
Except that they do!
The truth is being spiritual is not about following a bunch of rules that have the power to make or break your “spiritual status.”
It’s not about unconditionally giving away your time and energy to crazy demanding clients or customers.
It’s not about charging super low prices — or not charging at all — because a “kind, loving, spiritual entrepreneur” cares more about contribution and service over dollars and cents.
It’s not about investing hours on the meditation cushion to find “inner peace” when your mind is overflowing with thoughts like “I’m the worst meditator in the world” or “I wish I was anywhere but here” (these are literally some of the things I’ve said to myself on the cushion!)
And being spiritual is definitely not about shaming or guilting others. I’ve heard “spiritual” entrepreneurs say things like…
“You’re charging that much? That’s so 3D of you!” or “I can’t believe you don’t know what your rising sun sign is!”
Personally, I believe people who “follow the rules” of pop spirituality are missing the point.
To me, the crucial essence of being spiritual is about loving yourself and living true to yourself in ways that allow you to show up as the best and highest version of who YOU truly are.
And I’m willing to bet you’re a Spiritual Rebel Entrepreneur even if you think you’re not!
Every time you hold back from lowering your prices because you understand the value of your services… you’re a Spiritual Rebel Entrepreneur.
Every time you let your intuition guide you in your business even when the “experts” say you’re “doing it wrong”… you’re a Spiritual Rebel Entrepreneur.
Every time you dream of growing a million-dollar sacred empire, even when you’re not supposed to “desire” money… you’re a Spiritual Rebel Entrepreneur.
And that’s the BEST news ever because you know what? Being spiritual is a HUGE advantage when it comes to achieving wild success in business.
So many spiritual business owners don’t see it but entrepreneurship and spirituality go hand in hand…
Successful entrepreneurs are visionary and so are those who are spiritual.
Successful entrepreneurs love contributing and making a positive difference in the world and the same is true of those who are spiritual.
Successful entrepreneurs are inspired, creative, and expansive and yes, you guessed it… spiritual folks are too!
So whether you realize it or not, you have what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur because it’s who you already are.
I don’t know about you but I’m more than a little bit tired of “pop spirituality” with its exacting definitions about what it means to be spiritual.
I’m fed-up with restrictive rules around marketing and selling and being successful.
And so I’m sounding a clarion call. It’s for those of us who are ready to claim WILD success on our terms.
It’s for those of us who want to succeed in a way that’s joyful, loving, abundant, and generous.
So let’s rise up in unison and let’s show them how it’s done (when I say “them” I’m talking about bro marketers and hardcore capitalists, hustlers, and pushers not to mention, mainstream experts, and strategists and also “A” list copywriters who charge a ton for copy that feels NOTHING like you!)
