The legendary dancer and choreographer Martha Graham once wrote a letter about creativity and artistic expression to Agnes de Mille who was also a great dancer and choreographer in her own right:
There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly of the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.
The divine dissatisfaction and the blessed unrest Martha speaks of is in you and it is in me and it is in ALL of us.
Whether we are conscious of it or not, whether we recognize or acknowledge it or not, we are all artists and our business — our whole life — is the artistic expression of our values, our beliefs and our very soul.
And somewhere deep inside, we know the truth…
That it’s our life’s work – our sacred duty — to “keep the channel open,” to stay true to who we are, to express ourselves as we are.
And that’s what Intuitive Spiritual Expression is about.
It’s about connecting deep into yourself with brave vulnerability so you communicate through words — with honesty, and with love — in your business and in all areas of your life and relationships.
Your quiz results showed you what your Spiritual Expression Archetype is and you also discovered your personal Energy of Expression (if you haven’t yet, you can go ahead and take the quiz here) oth of these elements can guide you toward success AND satisfaction.
In a world that’s becoming noisier and more crowded and competitive by the minute, the one true way to stand out in your line of work or in your area of expertise, the one true way to get the right kind of attention and connection in any area of your life is to be yourself.
Think of your quiz results as the gentle path to finding your true self, embody our true self… and to express your true self with courage and confidence.
It’s absolutely, unequivocally vital you do this because you are unique and as Martha says, “there is only one of you in all time.”
There is only one you and there will only ever be one you. Finding who you truly are, being who you truly are and expressing who you truly are, it’s the blessed unrest…
And it’s the blessing of a lifetime.
